1.Bedok (EW5 on East West Line)
Bedok 85 Hawker centre
Bustling till the wee hours of midnight, Bedok 85 hawker centre is the go-to supper spot for Easties in the area. Here, you can expect to fully satisfy your hunger pangs with satay, lok lok, the famous ba chor mee, oyster omelette, stingray, and every other imaginable sinful goodies.
Kaki Bukit 511
Kaki Bukit 511 is another food centre that many Bedok residents enjoy patronising. However, this food centre operates from 7am to 8pm only. Located amidst HDB blocks and schools, here you can find your usual delicacies like wanton noodles, prawn crackers, congee and black herbal chicken soup.
Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre
While this might look an unsuspecting place to dine at, don’t be fooled by how ordinary it seems. Bedok Interchange hawker centre, located just outside bedok station(East-West Line Mrt Map) has a variety of food ranging from their famous Chwee Kueh, to Nasi Lemak, Satay Bee Hoon, curry chicken noodles, carrot cake, and more.
Bedok cafes
For those who don’t know, Bedok is the neighbourhood in the East with many secret café hideouts. If you’re looking for ice cream places, cafes like Fat Cat and Milk & Honey Gelato are good picks. For coffees and brunch, Percolate, Baker & Cook, and Refuel are places you might want to consider.
2. Tampines (EW2 on East West Line)
Tampines Round Market Food Centre
Tampines Round Market Centre was built interestingly in the shape of a ring, with sundry stalls and services surrounding amidst the humble neighbourhood. Having been built since 1980s, this centre was expected to be one of the last wet markets around. After its renovation in 2019, you can look forward to enjoying a hearty breakfast here with local delights like wanton mee, congee, kolo mee, prawn noodles and more.
3. Kembangan (EW6 on East West Line)
Another gem located in the East, Kembangan is littered with cafes for you to get a good coffee fix. From Fresh Fruits Lab and South Union Park for your brunch vibes to Café De Nicole’s Flower with Instagram-able décor.
4. Tanjong Pagar (EW15 on East West Line)
While many may know Tanjong Pagar as the Little Korea Town in Singapore, there are also many Italian, Japanese and fusion hideouts along the streets of Keong Saik – all of which best enjoyed in the night for their al-fresco vibes and warm lights.

Just opposite the old Tanjong Pagar railway station, you can find Maxwell Food Centre. With the bustling life of hawkers and hungry hawker-goers, you will not be disappointed at the variety of food – craft beers, gourmet espresso coffee, Western, Singaporean, and even Middle Eastern food.
5. Tiong Bahru (EW17 on East West Line)
If there is a place which needs no introduction for its café spots, it is Tiong Bahru. Although Tiong Bahru isn’t a huge neighbourhood, its quaint atmosphere brings a chilled out vibe to weekend goers looking for a little escape from the urban jungle with its 1980s-styled shophouses.
6. Redhill (EW18 on East West Line)
ABC Brickworks Centre
Located at Bukit Merah, ABC Brickworks Centre is accessible by bus from Redhill – Check Redhill Station from the East-West Mrt Map.
Whether you are going for the famous Wow Wow West Western, FoodKing Good-enrosed Fatty Cheong Roast Pork or Michelin Bib Gourmand Fried Prawn Hokkien Mee, you can be sure they won’t be disappointing. They also have multipled Halal options here.

7. Boon Lay (EW27 on East West Line)
Boon Lay Place Food Village
Not just a famous supper place for NTU students around the area, Boon Lay Place Food Village is also a usual break-time spot for cabbie uncles. Here, they serve up zichar dishes, ba chor mee, soya bean, and most notably – the renowned Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak.
If you see a queue forming, chances are it’s for Power Nasi Lemak. Join the queue for fragrant coconut rice and good sambal chilli.
Leisure and Entertainment
1.Changi Airport (CG2 on East West Line)
Jewel
With the world’s tallest colour-changing indoor waterfall cascading down the centre of Jewel at changi, this is truly a mystical experience to behold as you step into the terraced forest setting of this centrepiece.
Not only is the vortex an attraction, Jewel is also populated with over 300 retail and F&B outlets so you never have to worry about being bored or hungry.
2.Expo (CG1 on MRT Map)
Changi City Point
Although Changi Airport may be have stolen the limelight for this area, Changi City Point is not a mall to be overlooked as well. The main highlights here has to be the factory outlets for athleisure and footwear such as Nike, Adidas, Timberland and more – guaranteed to help you kop you new pair of kicks at a cheaper price.
If you’re looking for some formal wear, this place has got you covered with outlet stores from Clarks, G2000, Fossil, Hush Puppies and more.
3.Paya Lebar (EW8 on East West Line)
With 3 main malls in Paya Lebar, office workers nearby and Easties can now conveniently access either PLQ Mall, Paya Lebar Square and Singpost Centre within a few minutes’ walk from the MRT.
PLQ Mall and Paya Lebar Square
At PLQ Mall, you can come prepared to shop from stores such as Mango, Cotton On, Scoop Wholefoods, etc. and discover new food options and cuisines at their basement. While Paya Lebar Square also has decent dining options, this mall is not so much for the shoppers.
Singpost Centre
Although Singpost Centre is a quieter mall compared to the other two, this would be the go-to for movie buffs who are looking for the nearest Golden Village.
Plaza
There’s also an open-concept plaza in the middle of all three malls, with food, dessert and coffee trucks parked along the sides. Seats and tables are provided for those who are looking for a chilled-out mid-day coffee break.
City Plaza
Located a stone’s throw away from the MRT is an unsuspecting building. Although it looks rundown and something of the early 2000s, City Plaza is an interesting place to explore if you have yet to.
Here, you can find wholesale electronics, clothes, shoes and other knick-knacks. Plus, there is also an Arnold’s Fried Chicken here!
Kinex Mall
About a 6 minutes’ walk away from Paya Lebar MRT, Kinex mall is pretty much your upgraded friendly community mall with an arcade, home and furnishing shops, cafes, art jam classes and florists. Though this might not match up to Orchard Road, Kinex still remains a nice place to spend a slow dinner at.
4.Buona Vista (EW21 on East West Line)
Star Vista
About a 6 minutes’ walk away from Paya Lebar MRT, Kinex mall is pretty much your upgraded friendly community mall with an arcade, home and furnishing shops, cafes, art jam classes and florists. Though this might not match up to Orchard Road, Kinex still remains a nice place to spend a slow dinner at.
Rochester Park
Rochester Park is a small park hidden out at the back, just across Buona Vista MRT. At the entrance of the park, it is easy to spot the classic colonial-styled houses. Occupying one of these houses is Starbucks, where you will be surprised to see many students from the area mugging away here.
5.Jurong East(EW24 on East West Line)
Jem
All 3 malls are accessible from Jurong East MRT, with JEM being the largest shopping mall of them, with over 200 stores and 6 levels of shopping, dining and entertainment. Here, you can find major brands such as Uniqlo, Cotton On, H&M, Don Don Donki, Fairprice Xtra, Cathay Cineplexes and Courts.
West Gate
Located amidst a mixed-use retail and office development, West Gate is a close fight with JEM, with other major brands such as Isetan, Sephora, Fitness First, Beauty in a Pot and more.
IMM
As the largest outlet mall in Singapore, IMM has more than 90 outlets stalls featuring brands like Adidas, Kate Spade, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, and the like.
6.Tampines(EW2 on East West Line)
Tampines 1, Tampines Mall, Century Square
Coined the ‘Orchard Road’ of the East, Tampines MRT is directly accessible to Tampines Mall, Tampines 1 and Century Square – both of which have recently been refurbished.
For residents who stay in the area, these malls are very convenient locations to get their dinner fix or errand runs, given the endless options of dining places and supermarkets here. Otherwise, for those who are looking to shop, some tenants include The Editor’s Market, The Closet Lover, H&M, Cotton On, Isetan and more.
Tampines Hub
Recently opened in 2017 after receiving feedback from Tampines residents, the Hub today is a bustling hang out spot. Not only does it feature its main feature – the Tampines Sports Stadium, the entire hub is full of food and dessert options to pick from. As a family-friendly spot, there are also movie screenings and a library to spend your time at.
7.Queenstown (EW19 on East West Line)
Queensway Shopping Centre
Opened in 1976, many Singaporeans would know Queensway Shopping Centre to be the place to purchase your sports apparel. Whether you are looking for shoes, sports wear or sports gear, these shops will have you covered (and at cheaper prices too!)
If you’re feeling a little peckish, there’s always the famous 328 Katong Laksa and curry chicken here after your shopping trip.
8.Pasir Ris(EW1 on East West Line)
Downtown East and E!Hub
Recently renovated, Downtown East and E!Hub are both family-centric places for Pasir Ris residents to spend their weekends at. Although there are not many shopping options here, there are a couple of dining options, especially at E!Hub’s basement.
For something a little more exciting, there is also Don Don Donki, Teo Heng, bowling and inline skating here.
Wild Wild Wet
If those recreational activities are not intriguing enough for you, Wild Wild Wet is right next to Downtown East. It is one of Singapore’s largest water parks and was even voted on TripAdvisor as the Top 5 Water Parks in Asia in 2019 and 2020.
9.Kembangan(EW6 on East West Line)
Viva Business Park may sound and even look like a complete industrial area, but it still holds some appeal, especially with one of the biggest Decathlon outlets located here.
Besides, they also have a couple of affordable casual dining options that are worthy to be checked out here, some of which are Halal Korean places.
Arts and culture
1.Bugis (EW12 on East West Line)
Haji Lane
For the hipsters who are looking for wall graffiti and Instagrammable photos, Haji Lane is the place to be at if you’re missing a bit of Bali. With vibrant colours and a little edge to its atmosphere, here you can find stores selling knick-knacks and fashion pieces.
Feeling humid? Just take a seat at one of Haji Lane’s cafes and sip a bubbly while soaking in its atmosphere.
Busorrah Street
Closer to Kampong Glam, Busorrah Street leads up to the iconic Masjid Sultan mosque, considered to be the national mosque of Singapore. It was later designated a national monument in 1975.
Surrounding this area, you can find long stretches of Middle Eastern and Turkish food options.
Outdoor
1.Chinese Garden (EW25 on East West Line)
Jurong Lake Gardens is home to Chinese Gardens, where you can find many intricate architecture, stone carvings and traditional Chinese buildings – almost an equivalent to a throwback to the Qing Dynasty.
Apart from the Chinese Gardens, you can also explore the tranquil Japanese Garden, with scenic features of its aquatic gardens and flora.
2.Bedok(EW5 on East West Line)
East Coast lagoon, Parkland Green
Getting to East Coast Park might be one of the most challenging tasks, even if you are an Eastie. One of the most accessible ways by public transport is to take a bus from Bedok. Alternatively, you can also choose to cycle along the park connectors.
With its latest revamp, Parkland Green is the new kid on the block at ECP, with a stretch of dining bars and bistros by the beach.
Although, if you are not feeling too boujee, there is also the good old East Coast Lagoon serving up chicken wings and smoked satay sticks.
